It’s unbelievable.Cardinal fans should be more concerned with whether or not Pujols is going to re-sign after the 2010 season, instead of being concerned with Chris Carpenter or Adam Wainwright winning the CY Young. This is Pujols’ third NL MVP award, and he will go into 2010 as the early favorite to win the award again. You can follow The Ghost of Moonlight Graham on Twitter theghostofmlg This article is also featured on The Ghost of Moonlight Graham. NEW YORK/LAS VEGAS (Reuters) – Verizon Communications Inc picked Microsoft Corp to provide Internet search services for cell phones, in what is seen as a blow to rivals Google Inc and Yahoo Inc. Technology | MediaVerizon Chief Executive Ivan Seidenberg announced the deal at a Citigroup conference on Wednesday and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer confirmed it later in the day at the Consumer Electronics Show. Neither executive gave any details of terms.”I’m also thrilled to announce a new long-term partnership with Verizon to offer our (Windows) Live services on all Verizon phones,” Ballmer said at CES in Las Vegas. The agreement follows more than a year of speculation on who would become the default mobile search provider for Verizon Wireless, which is set to surpass AT&T Inc as the No 1 U.S.
mobile carrier after it closes its purchase of smaller operator Alltel later this week.”It’s certainly a feather in Microsoft’s cap miike snow cd . Tough news for Google and tougher news for Yahoo,” CCS Insight analyst John Jackson said of the agreement.Microsoft made a bid for Yahoo last year, but walked away after they disagreed on price kenichi endo . Investors have been skeptical about whether the software company can win online advertising revenue away from Google and Yahoo, which are both stronger than Microsoft in the Internet search market.”Microsoft really needed to win that,” Nielsen’s head of telecom research, Roger Entner, said about the Verizon deal “It gives them a good fighting chance deadly outlaw rekka . Otherwise they would have been almost insurmountably behind Google” in mobile search. However, the deal was not likely to change how many Verizon Wireless customers use their phones to surf the Web, CCS Insight’s Jackson said miike snow tour . While the details of the agreement have yet to be revealed, he said Google may have been a better choice to help Verizon offer personalized Web services, such as delivering ads that are relevant to users’ interests.”The ultimate goal in mobility is contextual awareness and the delivery of highly personalized experiences,” Jackson said. “These are competencies Google has in spades, so it may be that Verizon’s customers ultimately end up with an inferior experience relative to what Google might enable.”Last year, The Wall Street Journal reported the two companies were in negotiations and that Microsoft would share with Verizon revenue from advertisements shown in response to cell phone Web searches. Other previous reports had said Verizon was exploring a deal with Google.Verizon shares rose 1.27 percent to $31.90 in on the New York Stock Exchange.
Amid a broad tech slump following a revenue warning from bellwether Intel Corp, Microsoft shares fell 6.02 percent to $19.51 on the Nasdaq, where Google shares fell 3.61 percent to $322.01 and Yahoo shares fell 2.23 percent to $12.71.On the economy, Ballmer said the tech industry faced some really big challenges.”It feels like we’ve entered a period of reduced expectation, a time when we may be tempted to temper our optimism and scale back our ambition,” he said.”Companies and industries that continue to pursue innovation during tough economic times will achieve significant competitive advantage positioning themselves for growth far more effectively than companies that pull back,” he added. He noted that Microsoft would continue to spend more on research and development than others miike snow miike snow . It invested more than $8 billion last year.(Additional reporting by Franklin Paul and Tiffany Wu; Editing by Derek Caney and Matthew Lewis.) Technology Media audition miike . Oh, say, can you see, To those that love NASCAR, there are two important parts to any weekend. The first is the actual race that everyone has tuned in to see or paid money to attend dead or alive miike . The racing is the reason they love and watching NASCAR.By the dawn?s early light,But the second most important part of the weekend comes just before the engines fire: the National Anthem. Before any sporting event, the fans know they will rise to their feet, remove their hats, and salute their country before enjoying their favorite game. What so proudly we hailed,Sports fans love America as much as they love their favorite pastime. The two go hand in hand.At the twilight?s last gleaming, Over the years there have been some great renditions of the National Anthem, and of course, there have been some awful ones.Good being Whitney Houston, LeAnn Rimes, and Mariah Carey.Whose broad strips and bright stars,Bad being Hillary Clinton, Christina Aguilera, and Roseanne Barr mikke snow . Actually, Barr can qualify as downright hideous. After Jesse McCartney forgot an entire verse of the National Anthem before the Pepsi 500 at California, fans and media alike couldn?t believe it.Through the perilous fight, Neither could McCartney.McCartney wrote on his Twitter page, ?Here at the NASCAR race! So much fun! Can?t believe I forgot the words to the Anthem! I?ve performed it 100 times. Bad nerves today I guess.?O?er the ramparts we watched,But for viewers, they weren?t guessing when expressing how they weren?t pleased with how McCartney and others have ?ruined,? ?butchered,? and ?disgraced? the National Anthem. They?ll fight for their drivers as hard as they?ll fight for their country and for a proper National Anthem. Were so gallantly streaming, Personal websites and blogs light up after the National Anthem is sung each weekend about whether they approved or not and what other thoughts they have.Lately, it hasn?t been of approval.
NASCAR fans are not messing around when it comes to the National Anthem miike snow vampire weekend . You better do it right, or they?ll tell you just how wrong you are.And the rockets’ red glare, But don?t think that it?s just the National Anthem that you need to worry about.Fans and media are very observant, and they?ll spot someone that stands out in a crowd for all the wrong reasons. The bombs bursting in air, Mostly from what the TV camera caught while showing drivers, crews, and fans or from standing and observing those around them. It?s not uncommon to see some wives?perfect example being DeLana Harvick?wearing their hats during the National Anthem uzumaki movie . Some fans do so as well, and it is not a popular move to others.Gave proof through the night, The only people that should be wearing a hat during the singing of the National Anthem are military members. However, that seems minor compared to the outrage and thoughts on what the National Anthem is all about. That our flag was still there, Being in the grandstands during the National Anthem is a one-of-a-kind experience.Time stands still; thousands of people stand as one and in silence, in what can only be known as a moving experience snow conditions . The only thing on everyone?s mind is a bigger picture than a shining trophy and checkered flag.Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, Many celebrities and public figures have been invited to sing the National Anthem before a NASCAR race, many saying they are big NASCAR fans, but when they get up to sing one of the hardest songs in the country, they can?t pull it off.At least not to most people?s liking.O?er the land of the free,The easiest thing for anyone that is going to be invited to sing the National Anthem at a NASCAR or any sporting event is to remember an important piece of advice: Keep it simple. As one fan said, a fan that has a bald Eagle and an American Flag wrap that runs down the side of his Ford pickup truck, ?Sing it the way it was intended Keep it simple snow reports . I don?t need all these people adding bulls&*%t to it.?When Francis Scott Key sat down and wrote the song back in 1814, he didn?t have background music He didn?t have any added spice in mind.
He was more concerned with the words he was writing and how important they were.No one seems to remember that.No performer remembers that they aren?t supposed to turn it into a country, rap, or hip-hop performance; they aren?t putting on a concert. They need to remember the strength of the words they are saying, the importance and the meaning of those words, and let that be their performance. To have the honor to perform a song that is the song for their country is far more important than who they are. Most importantly, they need to remember, it?s not about them . It?s about the United States of America; it?s about Freedom, and honoring the men and woman who have given them that freedom. If they can?t remember that, then from now on the only people that should be performing the National Anthem are the ones that it was written for?the military?because they?re the only ones that do it right. And the home of the brave. snow weather . Its 1996 and all is well in South Bend. The Irish are in the same sentence with the powers that be in college football and their coach is one of the best known figures in sports because he wins and is a great motivator. If I had stopped by the campus at exit 77 of the Indiana Toll Road and told you to enjoy the fading days Notre Dame football, how crazy would that have sounded? If I had told you then that in the next 13 years this storied program would have chewed up and spit out three coaches all of whom hovered around .500, not played in a national title game, and had its graduation rate equaled or surpassed by so called “lesser” schools what would you have thought? How about that in the 13th year Notre Dame would have a must win game against Stanford to even be considered for a third tier bowl? The ugly truth is that the echoes have been dead in South Bend for quite a while and only now is it apparent that rigor has set in snow report . The body is cold, the echoes are dead ,and the future isn’t what it used to be.Notre Dame is going to hand Charlie Weis a really fat check in the next month or so and point him in the direction of Michigan City . That check is larger than most schools its size could afford, but the alumni have been in charge of this wreckage for a while now, so their wallets will take another hit and their egos will assert that its someone else’s fault all the while believing the fairy tale that the echoes are about to awaken. The hottest young coach in the game, Urban Myer, turned down Notre Dame five years ago and sent a university jet home empty to prove the point. Again yesterday he said that his interest in Notre Dame is in the past and that his future is at Florida. The echoes must ring loudly in some ears because even now, the blogosphere is full of stories about how this just means Myer wants more money.Golden Tate and Jimmy Clausen are headed for their paydays on Sundays next fall, leaving a gaping hole in a .500 program.
